GARDENS AND PLANTS

Become acquainted with a couple of Vancouver’s finest nurseries – both located in Southlands:

SOUTHLANDS NURSERY:

Established in 1991, and located in a charming ‘equestrian pocket’ on Vancouver’s upscale westside, it is not unusual to see horses and their riders go by these gates. Owners Thomas Hobbs (author of Jewel Box Garden) and Brent Beattie acquired the existing retail garden centre known as Southlands Nursery. Being experienced retailers, with two successful businesses in the nearby ‘Kerrisdale’ shopping area, Tom and Brent reinvented the nursery as a tasteful destination for exciting plants at fair prices. Typical, boring spaces have been transformed into visions of creativity and inspiration. A small loyal staff of ‘plant geniuses’ add knowledge and depth of inventory to the mix.

KJM COUNTRY GARDENS:

This family owned and operated garden centre situated in a farm-like setting . Stroll past the horses and chickens and discover a peaceful environment that will stimulate your senses.

KJM Country Gardens carry an extensive variety of new and old plant material, including (but not limited to) mature trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. They also carry pots, garden accessories, organic fertilizers and pest controls, selected artisan crafts and, last but not least, farm fresh eggs and local honey from the apiary. They also host special and seasonal events that bring the community together.
